Badlands Bison National Park Print

The bison takes up nearly the whole sheet: rust-orange through the shaggy forequarters, black through the hindquarters and head, one pale horn catching the light. Behind it a plain orange sun disc hangs over a strip of eroded buttes. Bison roam the Badlands' Sage Creek country again, and this two-colour treatment gives the animal the monumentality it has in person — less portrait, more landmark. Black is the frame this one wants; it doubles the weight of the silhouette. Order 18×24in or larger — small sizes undersell it — and give it the wall above a sofa. Paired with the bighorn Badlands design, it makes a two-animal survey of the same park.
